We are a diverse group of women raising families in the greater Houston area. We love Jesus, Texas, and time away with our family and friends. All of us have grown our families through adoption and foster care and are in the trenches of crazy lives. Between the five of us, there are five lively personalities, five unique professions, four churches, four wonderful husbands, thirteen schools, six agencies, eleven pets, eighteen children, and countless stories of the faithfulness of ONE mighty God.
We are visionaries. Our stories are as unique as our needs and gifts. We know what it’s like to be exhausted and wonder if God chose the right woman for this journey. We understand that this life can be difficult and sometimes lonely. We know how much it takes to give endlessly each day.
Thankfully, we know what it is like to be blessed by connections with adoption networks in our churches and online communities. Having networks where other people “get it” has been a refuge and a source of equipping, accountability, and encouraging fellowship. We have all be blessed by having a community that continually points us toward the anchor of our lives: Jesus.
In 2016, we were given with the opportunity to attend a retreat for adoptive, foster, and waiting moms. The time away was a tremendous blessing. Recognizing how powerful the time away with other trauma mommas was, we felt called to share an experience with other women on the same journey. We shared our hearts and hopes on the plane ride home, typed a simple vision in iPad notes, and committed to pray that God would bless it. After a few months of prayer and dreaming, Anchored in Hope was created.
Our ministry is to provide women with a weekend away in the company of other women in a similar place. We desire to host a weekend when tired mommas can slow down and connect with God and other women. We envision an environment where moms can laugh and cry with other moms who love children from hard places, share ideas and experiences, learn from God’s Word and each other, and celebrate the joys of adoption.
Our hope is for other moms to be encouraged, equipped, and resourced in a way that will anchor them to hope in the One who loves them. We have designed a time when women can be blessed, encouraged, and pointed to our only hope: Christ Jesus. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. Hebrews 6:18 & 19
Ultimately, we want moms to be reminded that they are loved and treasured. God designed and loves your family. Come join us to rest, reflect, relax, and renew. Come be filled with the joy and hope promised by the One who loves you, your family, and your children.
